They arrived! On time and without a delay! On Sunday, Michelle and Jake keep us posted as they made their way to Houston Intercontinental (Thank you Darelle) at 4 am. Then through a dispiriting Spirit flight (because Spirit sucks the spirit out of all travelers). They caught the 1 pm bus from Guatemala City to Rio Dulce with only minutes to spare to arrive here around 8 pm. We are so happy to see them. Grateful to Helen, Michelle’s mom, who sent her and Jake both off with her blessing.
We all got to make new friends at Margarita Monday at the Mansion del Rio. Our boat neighbor, Josh Green on Sailing Mañana, provided hours of great music. He even so kindly invited Jake up to sing some of his songs. We loved it, of course!
These kids demonstrated some traditional Guatemalan dances and regalia. They were so fun to watch. Sailing vessel Ultra had treats for them afterwards and also had a raffle to raise money for local projects they coordinate.
We won the Ultra Beer package. Joanne and Bill from Ultra put some of their cool boat stickers on the beer. I think we need to do some Nyango stickers with both a sailboat and a motorcycle on them.
We are watching weather for a good window to head to Utila. Unfortunately, it is looking a little unpredictable at the moment with another depression forming. We are all ok to stay awhile longer and enjoy Manglar Marina, Guatemala sights and new friends and storytelling.
