My Family is the best

It is nice to get to be with your heros! And I have spent January with most of my heros – my great big awesome family! What a great time! The only thing missing was Randall, who stayed behind working on boat projects. I am really thankful he wanted me to go spend January having so much fun.

I left the boat Dec. 27 just in time to arrive for the polar vortex snowstorm which blanketed most of the USA with snow. I spent the weekend at Carl and Faye’s house because Lily was my ride to Basecamp Nyango and she had Christmas to spend with Jorja’s family. It was great to spend the weekend with Carl and Faye and Lily and Jorja made time for game night in their busy Christmas weekend schedule.

Lily, Jorja and I spent a few fun days in Sweetwater. We played lots of Rummikub and even put a puzzle together. Then they headed back to get their dorm rooms in Ada set up. I also headed back to OKC to pick up Jake from his Mexico travels. We had a fun pizza party with Toni, Danny, Carl and Faye. It was fun to hear about Jake’s Puebla and Mexico City experiences. Both are places we hope to go to someday.

I was having a great time in Oklahoma and so happy to get to see family there. After a couple of weeks, however, Lily was back to school and Jake was getting situated in Austin. I was ready to see Randall again but there was a very special party set for the end of January and I didn’t want to miss.

My awesome cousins were planning a birthday party extravaganza for Uncle Roger. My sisters and Aunt Susie made plans to travel together to the Dallas Fort Worth area for a weekend of family fun. We could not have had a better time!

The pictures above are Uncle Roger and Aunt Ann and Aunt Susie. Roger turned 90 this weekend and want to age half so well! No I e can really believe he is 90. He and my aunts are the most beautiful people I know. They love their family and they have raised amazing kids who are loving, fun and generous just like their parents. We shared so many fun memories this weekend and loved catching up. We always enjoy cousin time but this weekend we felt like we got to know all Rog and Ann’s beautiful grandchildren who, each one, has a special living relationship with their grandparents.

Of course, Lisa, Jan and I were sad that Mom and Dad were not there to enjoy this time. They would have enjoyed it so much! But they would be so happy to see us together. They were with us in spirit!

After the big party weekend, I was excited to get home to Randall. Exactly one month from leaving, I was headed back to Isal Mujeres. But I was also getting to have still more family fun because my sister Jan was taking her first boat trip to Nyango!

We had a long day of travel. I made Jan experience a Mexico City bus ride because the airport taxis were higher than I wanted to pay. She was game for anything! We made it to our marina, El Milagro, by mid-afternoon and had fancy drinks on the beach by 6. It was great to see my sweetheart after so long and absence. We’ve had a lot of fun showing Jan around and are about to leave today for a sail. I will post more shortly about Jan living l vida loca on Nyango. But right now, we have to go sailing!
