Our friend Bryan dropped by the boat earlier this week. He works on boats around town but also just finished his culinary training. He asked us if we liked ceviche. He got a loud and clear “Si” to that question. He offered to come back later in the week and make some for us. We quickly Si’d again and asked him to please bring his wife, Darlin, who we had not yet gotten to meet.
So today, we had a very special treat. Bryan and Darlin came aboard, bringing all the ingredients for shrimp ceviche. It was so delicious. He also brought fried plantain patties and we added guacamole and chips to the feast.
Darlin asked if we were going to the fair in town. We had wondered if something was going on because the noise level has been up a couple of notches. I said we probably wouldn’t and explained that we got to fairs mostly to eat Churros which isn’t a super healthy habit. Can you believe I managed this exchange entirely in Spanish?
They wanted to know how we like Manglar Marina. I said it was great to be so close to town. We walk into town two or three times a day sometimes. This morning I went to the bank, walked around and stumbled into a cute coffee shop I didn’t know about and then chatted a bit with an old fisherman fishing with only a hand line from the dock. When I got back to the boat, Randall left to go hunt down motor oil for the ongoing dingy motor saga. On my walk I did snap a couple of pics of the flower seller.
What a smile! What a day!
Love this! Would love you to bring them to Basecamp Nyango! You two look great!!
Thanks! Yes it would be fun to have them in Oklahoma. I was asking Darlin if she has been to Guatemala City and Antiqua and she said no. I’m sure they would love to travel more.
What fun. Ceviche looks incredible. Love that you can just walk into town. Living the good life…..
The ceviche was great. He also sells it so we will hopefully get more.
