We have been working hard on school and business affairs in anticipation of the upcoming offshore passage during which both will be largely ignored. However, Randall and Lily have also been taking time to read an old favorite of ours – Drawing On The Right Side of Your Brain by Betty Edwards. Randall and I read this book more than ten years ago and really enjoyed how it explained how right brain/left brain processing affects drawing. Since Lily draws all the time, we thought she might enjoy the exercises the book guides readers through. Well, to date, she hasn’t really enjoyed the book or exercises but it is better than math, spelling or other scholarly pursuits so it is still in the daily rotation.
Lily also takes time everyday for a few minutes of boat ballet. We watch a little ballet for time to time on Youtube. Recently I let her watch the Bad Boy of Ballet perform to Hoozier’s “Take Me To Church.” So far, she hasn’t asked to get any tattoos. Whew. But what a performance. The boat deck is not the perfect stage for some of the kind of En L’Aire going on in Take Me To Church but Lily still enjoys some graceful plie around the stays. Yeah, I looked up some Ballet terms to throw at you. Really, don’t you think you might need these terms in your working vocabulary?
Because there are so many kids around the Rio at the moment, things like impromptu hot dog parties keep popping up. We rounded up all interested parties last night for hot dogs, legoing and a little pit of pictionary on Foxtrot. They had lots of fun. The youngest, Kim, knows very little English. Her first language is German but she is picking up lots of Spanish words here. Her smile was all she needed to get whatever she wanted last night. She so playfully tagged along behind the bigger kids, it was fun to just watch.
🙂 … Sounds like all is well on the Fox Trot!
