Sunday was Randall’s 47th Birthday. We don’t have much of a birthday tradition so it was perfect luck that Wendy, Ernest and Hope were in Key West with a few hours away from their Disney cruise. We had a super time starting with lunch at Sloppy Joes. Beer, Sloppy joes and dirty fries – are we to the age where we have to start worrying about meals like that? Trying hard not to think about it.
We headed to Fort Zachary Taylor Beach to get wet. The water was chilly but the girls got right in and had a blast while we older kids sat in the sun. It was a really pretty day – the first that we have had since arriving in Florida a week ago. We enjoyed catching up on family news and decided it was time for another reunion. We didn’t come up with a date but we hope Paynederosa will be available some time in the future. Haha. OK, Toni, we should keep all options open – like beaches. Right?
We wrapped up with a couple of brews at The Hog’s Breath Saloon. Wendy and Ernest regaled up with descriptions of cruise ship life, which we have never experienced. Lily and I think we could adjust to such conditions but Randall is not seduced by the mouse’s demonic plan to make sea-going a bunch of fun and games.
We said good-bye’s a few hundred feet from the Disney ship which was headed to the Bahamas after departing Key West. We boarded the bus for the ride back to Marathon and FoxTrot. As our bus sat at a stop sign, we caught this glimpse of the Disney ship silhouetted in the sunset and called out “Bye Hope!” Well, Lily might have said “Come Back. I want to go too…” Awe, dang, it was too short a visit!
Thanks Tammy, enjoyed the blog and pictures. Glad you had fun.
