We have been practicing our Spanish by chatting with Milagro. Milagro is Will and Molly’s nanny while Scott and Tracy are busy managing Nana Juana. Milagro is 17 and is studying to become an attorney. She is from Aldea, which is a little way down the river and has lived in Honduras in the past. Our questions below are a little basic as I am not sure the more detailed questions Lily asked translated very well.
Q: Donde vives? (Where do you live now)
A: Rio Dulce
Cual es su comida favorita? (What is your favorite food)
A: Pizza
Cual es su color favorito? (What is your favorite color)
A: Black and Blue
Que tienes hacer para divertido? (What do you do for fun?)
A: Read, write and listen to music
Milagro says she has many notebooks at home full of her writing. She hopes to someday write a book. I was able to tell her that I like to write as well. I tried to explain that I write a lot for work but I also like to try to write stories and write about our travels. It is exciting to be able to say something beyond “hello” and “the weather is nice today” and Milagro is a patient listener and often provides the correct pronunciation. I referred to “mi esposa” a couple of times and she reminded me that Randall is my “esposo” Big difference. Esposa is female and Esposo is male. I’m trying to get that right.
Great interview Lily. Can’t wait to see you
Gracias por la entrevista, para mi fue un placer poderlas conocer, estraño mucho a Lily y espero que Honduras les de lo mejor que tiene. Mucha suerte las quiero.
